Every Garden Starts With Work
Here at PAST, we are always looking for ways for our students to experience #AppliedSTEM. Here in this photo, students in the Culinary Arts Summer Institute (CASI) are helping to build out the raised beds that are part of the PAST Innovation Lab's urban garden. These beds will transform the front lawn from feral grass to fresh food and herbs. Each bed is designed to support both pollinator species and robotic growbot tracks to automate the planting, growing, watering, weeding, and harvesting of food. These beds are the prototype for the third phase of the Nourish Learning Lab, the Kinnear Road Agrihood. The CASI program is one of three Nourish-adjacent programs this summer that is focused on food science and food security.

#GirlsWhoLead Summit

The 2019 Girls Who Lead Summit, hosted at PAST and co-sponsored by Haven Collective, will give 120 parents and students an opportunity to experience interactive breakout sessions based around STEM innovation with the opportunity to “try on” different STEM skills. The sessions will provide hands on opportunities for participants to examine their own vision and opportunities.
